IRON ROCK
Punta Persico, also known as the iron Rock, is a surfacing rock gradually lowering towards the open sea, at first on a stoney sea floor then finishing off on a sandy bank at the maximum depth.
While skimming over the rock, the dive starts on the left hand side, reaching up to 15 metres. Continuing clockwise, it’s one big stone after the other, among whose cracks it’s easy to come across cramp-fish, congers and morays. Benthic life is also remarkable: there are plenty of Leptogorgia sarmentosa fans and colourful sponges too. While going back to the dinghy it’s possible to visit a small cave whose entry and exit are respectively 9 and 5 metres wide. Punta Persico is also recommended for night dives.
