Photographic Services

The Tribù Diving Academy is the only Diving Centre in the area that offers freedivers photographic services and/or video shootings during freediving sessions. Videos are extremely useful to amend any posture mistake or correct any bad finned movement: it’s an excellent tool to further improve your own performances! The personalized photographic book is an unmissable opportunity!

Outputs

The Tribù Diving Academy offers Freediving outputs all year round. Output typologies are different:

• Constant asset: a descent on cable with fins or monofin (the operative depth is established according to the freedivers level)

• Descent on cable without any equipment

• Skandalopetra

• Training sessions on cable over compensation techniques

• Exploring of faces and caves

SKANDALOPETRA

Skandalopetra is a “stone” usually made of marble or granite, with smooth corners, hydrodynamics shape and weight that varies between 7 and 14 kilos.

For centuries it’s been freedivers’ only auxiliary tool and its use dates back to Alexander the Great. The freediver-fisherman had his hand tied to the stone by a small rope; the skandalopetra itself was tied to the boat with a top, resembling a sort of umbilical cord that brought security to the fisherman.

Skandalopetra diving for sponge fishing has been practiced (senza virgola) within the Egeo Sea islands and especially on the Kalymnos island (senza virgola) since 1960.

To us Italians the most famous skandalopetra diving session is the one accomplished by Haggi Statti on 14 July 1913 to retrieve an anchor lost by “the Royal Military Navy Queen Margaret”.

The Tribù Diving Academy is the only Diving Centre in this area (and not only in this area) to boast skandalopetra and offer freedivers variable asset dives bringing in some old-time flavor.
