Dante’s dry bank

Dante’s dry bank lies in the channel between the Palmaria Island and the Tino one. Along the rocky sides of the dry bank there are diverse types of gorgonian, different both for shape and colour.

Practically here all the species of the Ligurian Sea inhabit. This diving spot is famous not only for the Paramuricea clavata colonies but also for the Eunicella verrucosa ones that may reach considerable dimensions. The massive pillows of Pentapora fascialis are important too. It’s easy to bump into migratory fish as the dry bank overlooks the open sea and creates a sudden bathymetry variation. This diving point is run mainly during the low season periods when the traffic caused by nautical boating is very limited as the peak of the dry bank lies right underneath very busy summer routes.
